Sump design

This is for Glam but thought may help.

This is how you build a quiet and effective sump.

First chamber contains an acrylic top with two holes cut for as large as possible filter socks. Not the tubing mst be below the water line so prevent splashing. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART Also at the bottom is a ball valve to make cleaning crud at the bottom a piece of cake.
Second chamber overflows from the first onto the drip tray and over the bioballs . Then under into the heater/charcoal whatever chamber.
3rd is for the pumps.

The other conglomeration of crap is my uv (essential) and drip system with a carbon filter.

Ask questions if I am unclear.

Looks good...

Why is the media chamber, below the drip tray fully submerged? Didnt want a trickle tower instead?

Good point. Its is actually 25 percent out of the water and 75 percent in. Should be more like 50/50. Only reason for this was the height of the stand short did not allow for more but as there are like 10 gallons of biomedia so I wasn't really concerned.

I see. didnt notice stand heigth...

Throwing an few airstones under that tower would be a good idea.
