Dear all,
As stocks of the Red arowanas which we had imported from Indonesian farms had been sold out, we thought we would make good use of the Christmas Holidays to visit Pontianak, Kalimantan again, just so we could visit some farms and top up our Red arowana stocks.

And so on Christmas Day itself, we had taken an early morning flight from Singapore to Jakarta, arriving at 8.15am so much so that we could catch a 10.15am flight to Pontianak, capital of the West Kalimantan province in Indonesia. Sharing with you all, our 8 hours journey from Singapore to Pontianak, West Kalimantan. Although this 5 days 4 nights trip is indeed a very tiring one, it was nonetheless a very fruitful trip as we had visited 5 different farms and ended up buying quality, hand picked Reds from 4 farms as a result.

Do sit back, relax and enjoy these recently taken pictures. Here's wishing everyone, a Happy & Healthy 2015!

Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3 - all decked out in the festive spirits.

First flight of the Day - flight time of about 1 hour and 22 mins. But with movies to watch on Garuda Airlines, it was easy to pass time.

As there is no direct flight between Singapore and Pontianak, we have to fly down south to Jakarata first and catch a domestic flight up north to Pontianak.

After a two hours transit in Jakarta, we catch a second Garuda flight to Pontianak, this time with no movies to watch. Luckily, it was a relatively short flight.

Flying up north again to Pontianak. Though there is a shorter way via Batam to Pontiank, however, we are not too confident of the airline plying that route ...

Approaching the island of Kalimantan - the famed Kapuas River as seen from the aircraft.

The Kapuas River divides the town of Pontianak into two.

As can be seen from this aerial picture, Pontiank has very few high rise buildings. Hence, it was like Singapore during the 1960's.

After two flights and some 8 hours later, we were about to visit our first farm of the trip, which was situated by the Kapuas River. These are the farm owner's range of speed boats.

SC03113.jpg

The farm owner's sons had picked us up from the Pontianak airport. And they, too, were the ones who had driven us to their farm in their speed boat. Taking this opportunity, we hereby offer our sincerest condolences to the families of the victims of Air Asia flight, QZ8501. May God bless them all ...
