Feeding shrimp

I have a 10" red arowana and want it to get as red as I can get it. Is it ok to feed shrimp with the shell on? I would remove the tail and head and cut the rest into smaller pieces. Or is it too dangerous to feed with the shell on?

i have 3 sr and i feed them all with head and shell on, but cut a bit of the spikes of the tail and head. its better to feed them with shell on.

I personally would not feed shrimp with shell on till fish is at least 18-20 inches. I can't remember where, but I read of a bad incident once that someone had when feeding shrimp with shell on to a smaller fish.

From what I understand, the food should not make that much of a difference; colour is 90% in the genes I think.
