I've been running Pro-Heat 2 controler and 1000w titanium heater on my tank for a year now and it seems to be doing a good job. For most of my small tanks i run titanium heaters for 3-4 years now and none broke down yet.

I bought 2 1800w back up battery for my tank from Canadian tire. They seem to work fine. 1 1800w runs my pump for a good 6 hour. So the extra one gives you more than enough time to run out to a friends or wherever to charge.
