Angels Plus - Edmonton

Cirrus

Arowana blogger
This is one of the more "curious" stores that I have reviewed over the years. It is entirely home based, located in a large basement. As you can see from the video below, as you drive up to the location, you would never guess you are about to enter a fairly major aquarium store...

I've started the attached photo expose by focussing on the beautiful Panda Gold Supreme that Sylvia (the store owner) has. The fish is obviously her pet. She commented on how it has the nicest personality of any Asian arowana she has ever seen and I agree with her :)

As panda gold supremes go, I really think this is one of the best I've seen, so forgive me for maybe getting a bit carried away with the photos :)

I made a video too, of course! Note the fish was largely raised in a 75 gallon before being transferred to its current tank when near adult size. This is next to unheard of for me. And to see the fish with no gill curl or chipped scales is even more rare given that it was raised in a small tank. This tells me that the water quality has always been excellent, otherwise the fish would not look like it does.

Sylvia keeps the kind of fish that serious freshwater keepers want to keep, like altum angels, high grade discus, unusual L#'s...

She told me that she is quite well known as a "home based" aquarium store, sharing how even dentist receptionists have recognized her address, blurting out "Heh, isn't that the address for the aquarium store around there?" :)

Below are a few fancy plecos that Sylvia's helper was breeding on site. There were also a few "monster fish" uneasily getting along in a tank to one side. This in addition to all the "normal" aquarium fish you'd expect to find for sale in an aquarium shop (lots of tetras, smaller cichlids, nano fish, etc.)

If you are an aquarium hobbyist in Edmonton and have not checked out Angels Plus, I highly recommend you arrange a visit. It is well worth it.
