There looks to be some interesting news out of the 2011 Aquarama concerning some "Royal Ruby Reds", shown out of Vietnam.
Hendri Leong posted some nice photos of a couple of the prize winners here:

A simple Google search of the Royal Ruby Red yields a Vietnamese aro site:

Some other translated threads from that same site dealing with these Ruby Reds:
thead one
thread two
But the above does not provide much information (and is kind of garbled in translation I think).
From the above Vietnamese links I noticed that a "ManhLong" is listed as a seller of the Ruby Reds; at first I thought this was a cheezy rip off of the Pang Long name (I've seen counterfeit "Panda Asian arowana" for sale in Asia before), but on more research find that Manh Long is associated with a farm operating near Ho Chi Minh city (Saigon to those with a long memory). There is a good article that includes information on this farm (along with a few other Vietnames ones) here:
http://www.mrcmekong.org/Catch-Culture/vol16_1May10/ornamental-fish-farms.htm; I have uploaded an excerpt from that article onto this site here: http://www.arowanaclub.ca/forums/showthread.php?p=33321#post33321
My simple research has not really provided me any more information about the "Ruby Reds" and where they come from.
Perhaps Hendri can fill us in on these fish, or Bret? I would guess the fish have been exported out of Indonesia as "special select fish" and then "branded" with the name Royal Ruby Red in Vietnam; to my knowledge there are not any Asian arowana farms operating in Vietnam (but the last article noted above requires further research). Or maybe some Vietnamese speakers on this forum feel like helping out on the research here (David? Nathan? Russel? You guys out there? )
Regardless of where the fish came from, they sure are beautiful.
