So a question. What type of lighting are used to "tan" these xbacks and how many hours a day are the lights on?

Light tube with 10,000K and above....regulating between 12hrs to 24hrs.

Hi Nicolas - In the past we have been told on this forum that high wattage lights can burn the GH off the top of fish. We have been told to use only very low wattage lights. What is your experience on this question? Should GH keepers use higher wattage or lower wattage bulbs?

Hi Cirrus,

The wattage of light tube selection is dependent on the depth of water and the width of the tank. You will need a higher wattage light tube for a deeper and wider tank. Hobbyist has to experienment to find the right lamp for their tanks. What hobbyist usually neglected is the spectrum of the light use. Low spectrum light will "burn" the top of the aro too.
