I have never used a sand filter. I would certainly want to keep things simple on the tank though, like i did with this one. Conventional methods would be out of the question, so i suppose i would have to consider a sand filter. For bio, i would definitely be going with a fluidized bed. Or...

Well... it looked small after a couple weeks of being filled... it sat empty for ever. I initially wanted something massive... but running costs, etc were prohibitive.. So the next tank will probably only be around 1200-1800 gallons. I would have to stick to using the room this tank is...
