Any tips for disassembling a tank

The great thing about big tanks, is they are easier to take apart. Depending on how big the tank is, you will need some help to hold the pane to prevent it from falling. Since big tank use a ton of silicone, they generally have a gap between the panes where the silicone is. Simply slide a...

    Shipping danger...winter!

I always felt as if it was safer to ship around this time.... Its easier to heat water in a box, than it is to cool it. Although i did receive a box of dead discus once.... with ice in the bag.. due to a delay of 24 hrs.

    discus with rays ?

I have done discus and rays... going to do it again with the new tank as well. It works out great for the most part. Almost all requirements are the same or at least very similar. Which is a huge plus. Water requirements and diet are basically the same. Discus become the scavengers of the tank...

    stingray bit a barb

You could wait to see if it falls out, but it might work itself deeper and eventually become infected. So if you want to wait to see if it will come out, then i wouldn't wait too long. All elasmobranch's heal very quickly, so once out, it shouldnt be very long before it is healed.

what color and type of sand for a stingray aro tank

Depends on the species of ray. White or black sand tends to be best for contrast. For type... anything buy fine silica is ok, as long as its not too large and jagged. I find Pool filtration sand to be a good grain size... Although, i much prefer a bare bottom. Ever consider it?

Thanks Pal! Well, im going to start off with 1500 watts and have another 1200 watts on standby if needed. But it's good to know you had no problems with a tank that size. Hopefully, i have the same fortune. Thanks Brian. Glad you like it.

    NEW build 540 gallon

Thanks! Im going with a fluidized bed on this one. Using K1. Im using 55gallon plastic barrels which will be in the room next to it(utility room) To start out, im using just 2. So 110 gallons total to start. The first barrel will hold 100 liters of K1. This barrel then overflows into...

    NEW build 540 gallon

Thanks Mike! Your rays are gonna love it! This tank has a 3" lip all the way around... which will help with them being able to get out easily. Im also only going to run this tank at around 16-18" of water height, so they will have a 6-8" gap between the top of the water and the rim of the...
