    Huge bump on Datnoid's head!

Well I got some Dew worms from the New West Army'n'Navy. Aro saw the first one and seemed to think; "Yeah, I can eat that! Oh, wait, that's WAY too large. Well... maybe... No, nope, now hosay! Well..." and kept coming back and forth out of a decision. So I dangled the tip of one in and he...

    Huge bump on Datnoid's head!

Well I'm off to Berry's bait and tackle in Richmond. 3-3.50 for 12 worms seems like it would be expensive, but I suppose if the Aro/tiger like them, it'd be a better choice than my current meals. Plus it seems less risky to raise worms than little beetles.

    Huge bump on Datnoid's head!

Alright, so the bump is probably 2x as large now; but he seems quite attentive and I see no lesions/sores/white puss. I did a number of buckets yesterday morning and I'm about to do another 20-30% right now. I've done some online searching now, but there doesn't seem to be many live bait...

    Huge bump on Datnoid's head!

Thanks for the advice! Once I get home from work, I'll make sure to do some water changes. I've been doing very minimal water changes recently because I SEVERELY sprained my wrist longboarding a few weeks ago and I've been completely unable to lift even 1/4 buckets of water. Recently however...

    Huge bump on Datnoid's head!

Datnoid's head bump [update] Well all has been running smoothly in my tank for a number of months. That is, except for the minor cloud eye a few weeks ago and a few other minor afflictions. Well I was just doing a feeding and I noticed my datnoid has a huge bump on his head. I've never...

    Not so charming Phoenix...

Ouch! That's definitely a problematic FF. It sort of reminds me of the small phoenix in my tank, except she only goes after my HUGE FF. On the other hand, Pookie doesn't pick on anyone. If the small FF is attacking her, she'll attack back after a while; or if a fish is VERY close to death...

    $9000 arowana painting!

They're $9000 because there are people in this world willing to pay whatever the price for something they want. To those, money is no object--like the people who buy 80 million dollar, custom made submarines for partying on. Anyway, I agree with mike; I could buy all the gear AND a set of...

What do you feed, what you feed to your Aro?

Alright, so this is an extension of the below topic of "What do you feed to your Aro?" I recently thought about what I was feeding my meal worm and have started experimenting with what they feed on. Currently I've been keeping with the bran they come with and adding an organic baby carrot...

A couple photos from my visit to Imperial

Thanks for the pic update! Did they have any Phoenix's? I've noticed a definite lack of Fei Feng in the general population of Aro keeping in SE Asia. The Japanese tanks seem to have them every so often, but still quite rarely. I wonder if the possibility of scale suckage is the reason. It...

    Panda RTG from summer order

I promised pics AGES ago, but had no decent camera to take pics with. I did however, get a DSLR for christmas, and although I'm terrible at taking pics with it, I've come up with two pics which I think are good enough for posting. That's two of 5 GB worth of photos that I now have of my fish...

    FIRST ARO?

I'm currently on my first aro, which is a little Panda RTG from the October order. So far it seems to me that if you've been keeping fish for at least a year or two, you should be able to manage an aro if you do your research before actually acquiring one. More succinctly, if you've raised a...

    Free to a good home

Further update I have now separated them with a piece of styrofoam. The aggro phoenix is with the tiger, aro and bichir because I couldn't coax him alone without a net. Anyway, he's totally not aggro anymore. In fact, he's now being beaten up by the Aro. Strange things are at foot right...

    Free to a good home

This is quite an old picture of Zeitgeist. This picture is from about June. I'd had her for about 2 weeks by that point and has since grown about 3 inches. She's gained a lot of mass since then and does her cleaning job quite well. I could (and just did, but deleted it) go on about her...

    Free to a good home

Free Phoenix to a good home I have a Prochilodus Insignis of about 6 inches which I need gone basically ASAP. Recently she's been beating up my larger phoenix and I just noticed that one side of my larger phoenix has many missing scales. Don't get me wrong, she's not an aggressive fish, but...

    Too much food

I agree with with my colleague's statement. My aro will simply stop aggressively going for the food. If I continue feeding, then he completely ignores it. Safe bet in my opinion is one he stops 'freaking out' over the food, then I stop for an hour or two and come back for perhaps 3-4 more...

How often do u feed your aro?

Welcome to our boards! From my knowledge, feeding twice per day is fine when they're still quite young; however, when it grows to a more mature size, then it lessens to once per day and even less, possibly every second or 3rd day sometimes. Currently my youngster eats 2-3 times per day until...

    How big of a pump?

I agree with the whole, "there's no such thing as over-filtration." I have an XP2 and Eheim 2028 running on my 110g; and if I could afford it, I'd get another 2028 for good measure. Each are set up at one end of the tank: XP2 near the front right, thrusting towards the back; 2028 near the...

    aquarium backgrounds

I've heard of people painting their glass black, or some other colour, but I imagine that if you ever want it off it'd be a bit of a pain. I personally have a pexi-glass tank; so I'm stuck with blue vs. my 1st choice of black.

    prochilodus ID question

Taeniurus = No red in the top fin Insignis = Red in top fin That's really the only difference between the two. Some may say that Insignis don't grow as big as Taerinus, but my personal view is different. I have one of each in my tank currently. Pookie being Insignis, Zeitgeist being...
