    HELP PLEASE!!

Some aros (specially small ones) takes longer time to adjust to its new environment. Just make sure your water is in good condition and it should be ok. Aros adjust faster to a smaller tank so you can put a divider to make it look smaller for the aro, or you can make the water level lower...

    rose gold xback

I remember reading a research being done in malaysia years ago regarding the red and gold cross. They were saying that offspring from a female red are better looking, being more reddish-gold, colorfull and SR body shape, than from a female gold. They have a picture of it and it was really...

how can you tell if the Arowana is Male or Female?

Highly experienced aro farmers and hobbyist can distinguish adult aros' sex by head and body shape. I can only guess more accurately when they start pairing. Usually the aggresive and croacking one is the male. But the only 100% way to be sure is when you see the female drop the egg.

how do I get my RTG to eat Food Sticks?

Starve him and hopefully he breaks before you do. mature aros can go with out eating for a few months so they are harder to break and train than younger ones. Aros don't eat when they are brooding other than the few eggs that they swallow so not eating for long periods is part of their nature...

For those that have goldenxb arowanas...

I agree 100% with FOSSILFISH. Some hobbyist believe the otherway around though even extending the wtt at home. Don't really see the point, but I guess to each his own :D.

    sr with me RTG's

Thanks. There's actually only 2 or 3 of the rtg's that into hunting the small sr's. The others doesn't really bother them. My next plan is to take out those 3 bad axx rtg's and leave the good ones with the sr's. My tank bottom is all sump so I can always put those rtg's there.

    sr with me RTG's

I built the tank myself (plywood). I am really happy with the flashing concept of my tank. I get to clean the whole tank with just turning of valves and all dirt comes flying out. I change water (about 20%)maybe once a month or 2 months. But I drain out the dirt every day, about 3 gallons...

    sr with me RTG's

Dither fish might work. The only difference is that they're not really fighting the SR's they're actually hunting it for food. The downside of dither fish for my situation is it might trigger the RTG's more into hunting mode and include the sr's in their food list, or then again maybe not.

    sr with me RTG's

They use to have a few when they were still seriously into fighting but it is more from the side rock background. The fighting mellowed down a lot so they don't get scratched as bad anymore.

    Scales

Sounds like it's a dropsy, that's pretty serious. Hopefully it's not in the worse stage yet and can still be cured. I've read a lot of aros just go down hill from this sickness. HOw long has it been since you notice those pop up scales?

    sr with me RTG's

It will probably work out fine. It's just that the other SR got to jumpy which made the rtg's think it is food. The other one probably just need a little more adjustment and will eventually adapt to his new tank mates but I took him out anyway.

    sr with me RTG's

It's an 8 X 4 tank but with the 3D background it's probably 1/2' smaller all around. There's 6 - 3year old rtg's in there. The sr's were a little on the smaller side when I got them (about 4") so I am estimating they're just a year old from free-swim.

    sr with me RTG's

Got 2 SR's from last year's fall or winter group buy (think it was oct 08).They're probably not even a year old from tag date. Finally put them in with my bigger RTG's. Looked ok for a few hours but one of the SR's got panicky and started running away which made the bigger RTG's get into the...

What to do when power out for long time

When I was still using the noisy mag36 pump I shut it down for 10 hrs every night (it's my wife's idea not mine) and sometimes I forget to turn it on so my tank won't have any filter, water movement or earation for 20 + hrs. I didn't notice any bad effects on my aros or gasping for air and I...

    PLS HELP

How bad is the head down? I would say if it is just slightly down ( about 5 to 10 deg. or so) I will just leave it. I would only be concerned if it is angled at more than 25 degrees and been like that for more than a month. They say high temp, no feeding and salt helps, a lot also.

Need expert advice PLJ on this Aro.

Yeah my tank looks really bad right now with the two prison cages in there, but I really don't want to setup and maintain 2 additional tank for their grow out. I figure they will be out on parole in 2 months :D
