    Help me Id this asian

It's a Red Tail Golden (RTG). A reasonably priced 5" one would be around $450 to $650. The price doesn't normally go a lot higher for a bigger one. Personally I wouldn't pay more than $800 on this one (basing on the pic).

couple photos of my jumbo L25 scarlet before leaving...

Thanks for clarifying that Charles. For a minute there (when I saw the pics of smaller L25) I was thinking of switching back to the Xingu option. But after a few more reading/ research....yeah, I think I am good with that Scarlet :D

couple photos of my jumbo L25 scarlet before leaving...

Hey Charles, is the pic below that I got from a forum (they did not mantion the L#)also an L25? If it is, is it a bigger possibility that that your smaller L25's will look like this when bigger since they have a darker body?

    Switched my arowanas diet

I too was feeding only worms and an occasional feeder fish on my single XB a few years ago and he is just massive and I think I would have continued doing just that if I haven't lost him. But feeding live food on 6 RTG is going to be expensive and I don't think I am willing to spend about $7 a...

    Switched my arowanas diet

Smelts are not as bad as cubed salmon. Salmon is BAAAAD. makes the water oily too :D

    Switched my arowanas diet

I also have the same method with Charles I have a mix of Beef heart, salmon and pork meat. All sliced in cubes and one pack will be the meal for the day. Lately I have tried smelt and they just go nuts over if. I'll be adding smelt in their dinner packs now.

Okay, I am just taking a break for a while from the forum! :)

I can understand your stepping down as an administrator but you going inactive even as a poster is totally unacceptable. You're an arowana hobyist so lets stir thing up abit here to attract more members and have fun. Part of the fun in aro keeping (and other things) is to talk and share it and...

    Old Blue base goldens?

Do they exist? By old I mean 7+ yrs. My understanding is that the gold rims will move its way to the core so eventually it will cover the whole scale. So are blue base goldens (RTG and XB) just for younger aros? and all will eventually turn full gold (if you keep them long enough). An...

    ULTRA RED F4 anesthesized !

Wow! They are really nice! Roughly how old are those guys? Do reds retain those colors most of the time once they get red or will it be like red like that for a month then fades to light orange again the next month..... I know that there is a very wide difference between SR's in terms of...

Too much flow bad in aro tank?

Looking at breeding ponds, they don't really have any filters(other than plants) or constant water flows, yet they thrive. I would say high current, at the very lease, is just not their natural preferred condition. Comm'ers have been using high flow to distract them from fighting so I would...
