Are You keeping a “Manufacturing Defect” Aro?
If your answer is YES, then you are a victim of commercial exploitation.
According to the regulation, Singapore AVA requires Spore aro farm to issue a “Certificate of Warranty” and not a “Certificate of Identity”. Hence, the certificate which one received when purchasing an aro, is not a birth certificate which many hobbyist thought it to be.
The farm must warrant the quality of the aro specified on the certificate. If the aro does not grow and turn out to be what it had been specified, it is a “Manufacturing Defect”. The hobbyist has the right to send back the aro to the farm for “Refund or Exchange!” (Inherit defects of aro cant be repaired) Or Sue the farm. For example, a specified blue base aro become a gold base aro; a golden head xb become a “dark head” aro; a RTG instead of a XB; a Tungyen instead of a pure XB ; yellow tail instead of a red. The list goes on.

It is important for hobbyist to know your right ; being responsible and a wise keeper of your hard earned money. Do not be a gullible consumer! Be wise and choose an ethical product ... by an ethical company.

Thanks, good info to know. I don't suppose this applies to farms in other countries like those in Malaysia or Indonesia.

No, I don't think it does. One of the ways that Singapore distinguishes itself from those neighbouring countries is by emphasizing rule of law.

The only thing is that some of the aros from the neighbouring countries are preferred over those from Singapore, an example is the red aros...some prefer those from Indonesia.

Almost all production of Asian arowana by Singapore farms has now moved to either Indonesia (Sabah) or Malaysia (Bukhit Merah area), so its becoming a more complex situation. Having the Singapore CITES act as a guarantor, however, can only be a good thing :)

Yes, totally agree that it's a good thing...just saying if the other countries did the same for their exports, that'll be super!
