My new HBRTG

Very sorry to hear about your loss. That was a nice looking aro. What else did you have in the tank?

If you encounter high water temperature again, you can try using a fan over top of the water. I sometimes have to do this in the summer time with my saltwater tank; it usually drops the temperature up to 5 degrees F.

I heard people dumping in ice cubes,i don't know if it is of any help in making the temp go down i have never tried it personally. Maybe try turning off the heater for a few hours that might help?

Edo, the owner of Elkindo, lost his champion Super Red and another high end fish at the 2007 Aquarama. Though 100% proof as to why the fish died is impossible, so far most people blame the lights that were set up by the promoters; they were close to the water surface and emitted a lot of heat. Edo was amongst the first contestants to put his fish in the tanks; when his fish started freaking out soon after - whether due to the heat or water chemistry - other contestants stopped putting their fish in the tanks, and demanded that the lighting/heating issue be addressed (I don't know whether water chemistry was an issue at that point). Edo was informed later that night by the watchman at the competition that his fish was acting strange; by morning the fish was dead. That fish was a chamapion brooder and was worth many tens of thousands of dollars. Most people blame the heat of the lamps for killing it, though there are some other conspiracy theories about. When it comes to losing fish, sometimes it even happens to the "experts"... :(
