Here are all the males of my wild betta collection. All of them have a corresponding female for themselves, so if I choose to breed any of them I'll be prepared. All are F1 wild caught from Malaysia. Enjoy and tell me what you think, would be nice to know if anyone else here kept wild bettas.
Male Splendens. imbellis
Male Splendens. smaragdina, Blue Guitar varient
Male Splendens. smaragdina, Gold base copper varient
Male Splendens. smaragdina, Turquoise varient
Male Splendens. mahachai # 1
Male Splendens. mahachai # 2
The wild betta species I'm really interested in getting soon is the Brunei. Mactrostoma. These are the largest wild bettas, measuring in at 5" as adults. They are also the most expensive wild bettas, breeding pairs can cost $180-$250. These wild bettas are also rarely for sale, as people who actually have their hands on them don't want goblet go of them. What I'm crazy about these wild bettas is; they look like miniature Asian arowanas and they're mouth brooders just like arowanas
. (pictures of the macrostoma bettas don't belong to me).
