i currently have 3 large aros ranging from 16"-18" eyeballed and was wondering if anyone ever had experience with shipping, cause i want to place them in my 10 foot tank in Vancouver which now already house 4 as a comm tank.
any suggestions would be nice..... Thanks in advanced.

If you don't already have an "aro bag", contact a seafood distributor who deals in live prawns. Get a hold of shrimp bags (heavy plastic, white opaque bottom); use one per fish. I paid $12 C. for my bag in S'pore. It seems to be what everyone uses to move the big fish down there.

As for whether to sedate or not, can't help you there with any recommendation.

When I sold my 24" silver aro, I went to SUPERSTORE and asked a guy in the seafood section if they have a large strong bag that can hold a fish that is 2 foot long. He gave a bag similar to what is Cirrus is talking about. A very thick white plastic with a opaque bottom. I also asked for an extra one.

I know im terrified to move my 2' + rtg.. I've used aro bags for short moves, longest its been in an aro bag is maybe 2 hours, with constant water change...
I've looked into moving it to the interior, about 8 hour drive.. The only way I could imagine doing it would be in a 50-80g tub (the big ones you find at hardware stores) with battery operated air pump, heater, and a buncha 5g buckets with tank water for refresh along the drive...

I would like to hear more peoples stories about transporting large aro for more then a few hours..

i know i need bags but is it safe for me to ship them from Montreal to Vancouver?

Do you know your local fish store in Montreal well?? Could you ask them to pack that for you?

From Montreal to Vancouver is about 6 -6.5 hours, right? Please make sure this is a "non-stop" flight.

Having them packed in fish store with enough oxygen in Montreal will not be a problem for h.I.nathan. And he is well aware of the flight schedule between Montreal and vancouver. What he worries about is the size of aros. Will it be safe? And he wants someone here who already transfer the larger size aros. share their experience.
Like right now we are sharing our idea based on our knowledge, but he likes to hear somebody who already did the transfer before sharing the true schedules from 0 to the end. Then he may follow the same way. Am I right Mr. h.I.nathan?

Since you guys are in Miontreal area, can you help him out then??

There has another key question here. Do you have to ship all 3 large arowanas at the same time??

If you don't have to ship all 3 together, choose the cheapest one to ship first and see whether your way to ship is "safe" or not.

well they're all the same price. everyone has its unique way.
also i want to ship all 3 to fill my other tank so and make room for a new custom build tank this summer

That's correct, everyone has his/her unique way.

Did you ask any suppliers how to ship larger fish? They should have more hands-on experience dealing with situation like this.
