What should I do in GTA?

Hey,

Visiting the GTA at the end of August with my Girlfriend (she grew up in Guelph). Just wondering if anyone could suggest anything fun I should do while I'm there (fish related or not). I already have a massive list like the zoo, african lion safari, canadas wonderland, etc. I just gotta make it longer so I can really make the little lady have a mental break down hahah.

More specifically what fish stores should I put at the top of my list to go see? I've heard there are some pretty neat ones in Guelph, but I think they mostly focus on cichlids. I want to find some arowana, plecos, discus, dats, etc.

Thanks guys,

Justin Morash

How many days will you guys stay in GTA?

Honestly Justin, Guelph is good for studying agriculture, getting drunk downtown while university is in and... that's about it. If you head South down Hwy 24 out of Guelph, you'll pass through Cambridge (where I live) and eventually into Brantford. Like Guelph, Brantford is good for very little, but they do have the Tropical Fish room which has some neat oddballs-- L numbers, Cichlids, etc.

If you take the 403 from Brantford and head East, you'll hit Toronto. There are a few decent LFS on Dundas, namely Dragon Aquarium, Aquatic Kingdom and a new place called Cam's Aquatics. Dragon probably has the most oddballs, though neither has much in the way of aro's.

If you want to see anything cool in a LFS, you need to head East towards Markham & Scarborough. The Steeles and Kennedy area has all 3 or 4 arowana stores in a block radius. The most popular is probably Lucky's, which I'm sure you've heard much about. One of the only LFS that carries black rays, and a good selection of aro's.

If you want to see anything cool in the way of members collections, you're welcome to stop by my place in Cambridge. There are a few other members on here who live between Guelph and Vaughan, too, that I'm sure would welcome you to view their stuff.

Oh, and word to the wise, if you go to African Lion Safari, DON'T take your car. Those monkeys can do serious damage!

I was just at Lucky's... Incredible! I've been sheltered from proper aquarium stores for far too long. I was extremely tempted to cap off my student line of credit and leave with the biggest red arowana, a couple nice plecos and a hand full of dats. Although my trip just started I think that may just have been the highlight of my trip.

Anyone know if they will ship their big fish like the big arowana?

Thanks,

Justin Morash
