Dam smart ray

So I have my experimental tank set up with some combinations of rays and others that are not suppose to commune and I started to run into my first problem. My FRT is starting to get a bigger appetite and is requiring alot more food and if it's not there he has started to nip at some of my rays. My FRT is small and my rays are all just pups to preteens but my FRT must have pissed of my henlie pup because as I was coming around the corner I noticed my henlie had a hold of my FRT's shell and was just holding it down, not shaking it or even trying to bite at it, it just sat there like it was trying to drown it. I continued around the corner and the ray let go of it, I'm just wondering if I wasn't there would the ray of kept holding onto it till it drown.
Obviously I'll have to seperate them but for now I'm keeping the food level up and things are fine until I can re-arrange some tanks and get the communities right.

wow ? that is very strange ! good thing you were there for sure !!

i have the same problem with my frt , if the food is not up to his levels , my poor 16 inch niger cat gets harassed ..lol

Frank and Nico had around a dozen FRT's last time I was there, they had them in various tanks some with rays, some with aros, some alone; if you have any specific questions related to FRT's and rays I would email them.

Thanks theo I may give that a try as I'm thinking I won't be able to get this community going. I know alot of people say it won't work but maybe Frank and Nico have the answer.

Further evidence that rays are incredibly intelligent. Awesome observation!

totally agree....rays to me are one of the more intelligent fish out there!...it seems that many bottle dwellers are in the same category...in my opinion...and most mid to top level swimmers are more of the aggressive types...

lol I don't know when I'm a bottle dweller on the weekend I don't feel so smart.
