Any Audiophiles on here? looking at a potential upgrade to my HT setup (with exception of the TV) and wanted to know if any members are into those things!...I'm such a beginner but considering about get amps and such but no clue why amps are needed...I've got a Pioneer Elite HTR VSX92th with B&W DM603 S3 fronts w/lcr600 s3 center and a ASW 650 Sub....looking at a change...tv is a plasmas Pioneer Kuro Elite so not looking at changing that...

looking at potentially upgrading my fronts to 850D's and getting amps Classe to power them...and not sure what else I might need...either classe or mcintosh

no....had it before but don't consider BOSE to be mid - high end or at least not in audio/HT units...only in their headphones. Most Bose systems including speakers are below 2K, most mid range speakers are 3-5K each..with no system.

can you give me an idea of price range of what your looking at?
I'm running low to medium end on mine and its still not cheap...lol
I have a Cambridge Azur 340R which is kind of old but if i buy another reciver it will be a Camridge again.
I'm also running 2 Brio 3 Amps
And my speakers are All Kef's
IQ90 fronts
IQ30 rears
IQ60 Center
and a JBL ES150P sub
I also spent just as much on wires and cables.

Amps are used to give speakers the power to reproduce sound the way they were ment to. Not enough power is bad for sound like 2 much power is bad for speakers.
I really would like to buy some Paradigm speakers but the wife is a little touchy about all my interests at one time....lol look at an ad on line for General Audio.

OK...so budget is say...10K? but here's what I'm looking for in terms of set up and then look at you for advise...looking at picking up a pair of B&W 805D's....I'll keep my lcr600 centres or perhaps pick up 805d centres depending on the deal. Then I would like to keep my pioneer elite 92thx HTR but know its not enough to power the 805's...perhaps what ever amp is needed to power the 805d's...was looking at classe amps since they seem to be geared towards the b&w speaker since they are pretty much the same company or are the same company! I'll keep my B&W 603 s3 speakers for rears. The main use for my unit would be to watch tv, play xbox/ps3/wii, blue ray....

hi I'm a friend of corvette's and an audio buff , 805d recommened power is 50 to 120 watts so a classe amp would be over kill but would do the job ,powering good speakers a good "A class" power amp is what you are looking for but using a powered receiver will kill some of the sound. So for better sound I would go separtes pre-amp ,amps two sites to look at are "canuckaudiomart.com and anthem.ca" a lot of guys are saying not to run pioneer and brystons or yamaha and classe because your not getting everything you should be getting out that amp.if you ran processor and amps it's straight or a clean signal would really bring out the sound of those b&w's better ,go on anthem.ca and it's shows you the differences and on "canckaudiomart.com" and they have a forum that might help as well.

Thanks!....I was at my local store and they recommended with a mcintosh ma6300 integrated amp since I was going to run a 2 channel system only combined with the 805D...what do you think?
