Does anyone think it makes a difference for ray breeding purposes if the rays are born and raised on sand or barebottom when it comes to breeding.
I've noticed that my rays that have been on barebottom thier whole lives have developed a different muscular structure than my rays that were raised on sand. Now in the case of females my rays that have been on barebottom thier whole lifes are the ones that are not getting knocked up even thou males that have bred with quite abit larger rays are trying. It looks like the females have got very good at keeping thier discs more like a half dome than flat when the male goes to breed them not allowing him to bite them and try and get under. I'm wondering also if there was sand would it be easier for the males to push/blow the sand away from the disc edge exposing enough for them to grasp onto.
Any thoughts?
