so...was thinking of getting a Chameleon to put on my ground floor close to my tank....heard that they are easily stressed...it'll go into a fairly busy area...whats your thought..I've had geckos before...but didn't last long as and sold it within a couple of months...:-)

They are more easily stressed than a lot of other lizards. I've kept some in some fairly high traffic areas and they've done well. Young kids running around screaming kind of traffic might be too much though. I have a friend who wholesales reptiles and might be able to get you a good price on one. Only problem is he is in B.C. and might not be worth paying for shipping back east.
 
Really depends on the Chameleon. I had a Panther Cham at my wifes store and we also had a cat there which would sit outside it's cage and he was fine. Chameleons really aren't the greatest pet as they definitely aren't the friendliest. There are reptile shows every couple months in Ontario so you should be able to find a breeder and get some good info before you take the plunge. I stopped keeping them because I got sick of keeping crickets, even though I tub fed, the occassional one would escape and piss the wife off. You have Bengals right? I have 2 Bengals and they are always bugging my Crested Gecko. Good luck and let me know if you need any help sourcing one, I have plenty of contacts in the reptile community.

Thanks Ron, yes got two bengals. Just a thought for now and won't be jumping in too quick. There's a few on kijiji with big cages so was pondering. I'll keep researching more.

No problem. They are a great display animal but not so great for handling, most I've dealt with will gap, hiss and try to bite when you try and get them out of their enclosure.
 
I have three bearded dragons, a blue tongue skink, 2 normal ball pythons, a brazilian rainbow boa and an emerald tree boa. The bearded dragons are the most handleable, very tame. The skink is a little grumpy but he settles right down when you pick him up. The snakes are all quite tame as well except for the etb, which I haven't picked up yet. I have read too much about how big their fangs are so she is just on display.:D

Reptiles make great pets and are a lot less work than fish. I also have a rose hair tarantula, a rat (felt too sorry for her to feed her to a snake), a halloween crab and two cats. Sometimes I feel like I'm living in a zoo.:rolleyes:
 
At one point I had 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 tortoises, 6 Panther chameleons, 2 Kimberly Rock monitors, 16 Asian ratsnakes and 90 or so Ball pythons. Pets deinitely didn't help when it was time to list the house.
 
Wow, 90 ball pythons! I think selling my house would also be a problem with all the fish tanks I have throughout the house. And half of my friends won't visit any more because I keep snakes.
 
I had a veiled in my office. It was like having a grumpy old man living with me.. He was not afraid of traffic.
 
Too funny I have a Halloween crab too and a rose hair course there's the other 150 exotic species of tarantulas I own too (at one point thousands when I was importing them for people lol). Also at the moment have a bearded dragon a huge redfoot and a leopard tortoise and Japanese dragon morays , a cat , dog and various others including the scariest being kids! Lol though had a gorgeous pair of barneck scrub pythons that were my all time favorite . The male was 15 feet and the female was 11. Be great to start a thread with peoples favorite pets they've owned past and present if one hasn't been started before

I've had pairs of veiled's and a pair of panthers. Had them while I was getting divorced and just couldn't meet their needs so I found new homes for them.


I do still have all the gear and I've checking them out again so if anyone has a source for cb jacksons in canada, shoot me a pm. :)

I think chameleons would make excellent fish room occupants.

Chameleons would be a good fish room occupant, the higher humidity would be great for an open air enclosure. CB Jacksons will be hard to come by but I can check out west for you.

LOL best possible description of a veiled

Before I was an aro guy, I was a reptile guy, so I've had quite a few diff. chameleon species. R. brevicaudatus (pygmy chameleon) was pretty cool, although not nearly as long lived as the larger more common species. Yeah, port credit pets is awesome for that. The kids love that place and is the place i get my SW from
 
LOL thats awesome.... I used to get all my turtles and tortoises from them back in the day... PCP has street credit all the way out to alberta ;)
Jacksons are Awesome, Ive only seen 3 out here and they were spoiled and still skinny and shy.
