so I had a buddy who visited me this past weekend....he's dad use to be into Salt water tanks...got into it a little crazy and spent a lot and I mean a lot of money on 3-4 days ranging (I recalled from visiting his place a few months ago) from 40-50 to 150gal...all with Very established live rocks and corals....well...my buddy wants his dad to get rid of it all as he's flooded his place a few time during water change and doesn't take care of it like he use to since he's moved over to Stamps! LOL....my buddy pretty much wants to sell it off for 1 on $10 of what his dad spent....I'm considering on picking up his largest tank with all the corals and rocks and probably get it for next to free!...anyone here interested in picking up complete system? if so let me know...i have no clue what I'm getting into but it did look nice..no clue on what they call all the species....either

well...most SW guy will tell you once the system is up and running, it really is on auto pilot and lots of SW guys tells me that it's more maintenance to up keep a FW then SW once established...not sure how true that is as I had a 50gal Cube SW before and it was a lot of work but only had it for like 6 months.

I have two sw tanks, a 130g and a 200g. They are more work for me as I have to mix the salt water to the right salinity for wc. The fw tanks have wc using a python, much easier. I also have to clean the protein skimmer more often than a canister filter as well as replace the media in the carbon and phosphate reactors. And don't get me started on controlling aptasia!

Saltwater is a completely different animal to FW.
Depending on what your stocking list, the maintenance can be as simple as water changes to out right owning your social life and ruining your marriage (I've seen it happen!).

I've spent countless months killing aptasia and glass anemones, but the worst was trying to eradicate those damn HYDROIDS!!!
In this hobby patience is really important, and so is money...you need a lot of both.

BTW, let me know if he's letting go of any high end equipment?
