Hi everyone here is a update of one of my reds. The color has faded a bit for I was doing a large water change. Leave some feedback good or bad.

man very nice red!! the red on his rims are quite thick!! i hope mine gets like that. still pretty thin frame for my red. how old and what size!?

wow looking good , by the way how old is he?

water should be good for red arowana fish, I do 25% water change a week...so far so good.

He's a beauty!

What size is it at?

Even faded it looks great

I'd be happy if my chili had half that color, looks good!

Its been fun watching your fish develop. Certainly looking good! :)

that is some great development on a high quality red! thank you for sharing its wonderful

nice red.... i m also curious how big he is.

^I'd say 16"?!? Nice dragon. Post some more pictures man.

very nice red ...from which farm?

Hi everyone thanx for all the nice comments. I will start off with the size, he is about 12.5"-13" in length. I have had him for almost a year and when I purchased him he was about 5-6" in length. The fish is from Elkindo. I did not want to comment on the farm with all the controversy from before about the site, and who was affiliated with who. By the way I am not affilliated with any of these farms I am just a end user just like most of the people on this site. What made me purchase this fish from this farm, were the pics from Indo Dragon book 2. I felt that if this fish ever comes to Canada, I will puchase them and see how they turn out. It had nothing to do with them winning the Aquarama 2007 that was just a bonus.

I was and still am doing an experiment on both fish with regards to rearing the fish and that is why I have not yet posted any pics of the other Elkindo. Any time I had posted pics of the two fish I would get a number of votes for one fish and the other had sooo many faults and flaws. Weather it be too long, PLJ, not tall enough or thick enough it was something. No offence was taken for any of the feedback left they were all good and valid comments. What I tried to let people know, was that I had chosen one for body shape and one for color. Since I have recieved soo many comments on color for this fish, you know that this is the one with all the flaws but with potentially the best color. There has been some discussion about its not the farm but the fish. I agree with that, but genetics plays a big role in how the fish will develope in the end. Majority of people like the spoon heads, tall bodies, big tails, thick frames etc etc..... I was one of these people. But when I went to pick up these fish the one that appealled to me the most was the one with slight PLJ but I could tell that this was going to be of exceptional color so I purchased him. I was buying a Red arowana and I wanted it to be represented as a Red Arowana. I have gone to countless Websites and have seen soo many Red Aros out there that are not Deep Orange or Red. Also of which they are larger then 12-13" and above and have been kept for 1-2 and a half years with no color at all. I know majority of fish will not be Red but I would expect at least orange to deep orange and not yellow or pale orange in color. When people sell us these fish they classify them as being super reds. What is so super about a fish that is yellow or pale orange. Lets hear your comments.

Here is another pic of my Red Dragon enjoy:):):)

very nice red and i do agree with your comment that farms can call thier reds super reds not knowing if they will turn out good or not. also, us (the end) will not know the quality and the final outcome of the fish when matured. so rearing red aros are truly a gamble. like yourself, i did go through 2 super reds (juvis around 5-6 inches). i read countless websites and went through so many pictures of "super reds" and found that most are hardly red or deep orange like you said. this is why i decided to buy a larger red aro. then again, rearing an aro from 5-6 inches to an adult is quite satisfying like i did so with my rtg. i did not want to "waste" time rearing a red from young since 1) if i keep an aro for quite some time ill most likely keep it til it dies 2) i dont want to be dissastisfied with a yellow coloured red aro in 2 years time

everyone has their own opinion about keeping aros. especially when it comes to defects, colour etc. i think as long as you enjoy the fish that YOU are keeping, then the comments dont really matter if YOU are satisfied in the long run. other ppl can comment but then again its all a matter of personal preference when it comes to certain characteristics pertaining to a certain arowana. most of the aros out there will have flaws. but nothing is really perfect.

Very nice development. Personally, I don't really like its shape, but colorwise he has good potential. His shape and color tone remind me of the reds from ShelookRED...

And is it me or did you upgrade your camera?

both Red and xback are a gamble

if you buy Red tail gold or green you know fairly much how it will turn out

nice red most of the fun in aros is the risk :D

True but if you know how to pick a Red the end result is that much sweeter.

Here is another pic of this Red. How he usually looks when the water is just right. Pic was taken about a week ago. I will be posting pics of the other Red very shortly.

Thanx
