Distichodus with rays?

Has anyone here ever tried distichodus sexfasciatus with rays? I have had them together with a 3" disto for a couple of weeks with no problems. Last night I noticed my female had a bite on her disc. Looks about the size of another rays mouth but if he's the culprit he'll be aro food.
 
as distos get bigger, they become more bold / nippy. i use to keep a 5 inch disto with a big rtg before. it was fine for a few months then the disto started nipping the tail of my rtg. i would get rid of the disto. imagine the damage if he takes out an eye!!
