Drilled tank question.

Hi, I just purchased a Drilled tank with the holes about 4 inch from the top of tank. My question is do I need an overflow box? I searched and some say you do others don't. , as you can tell new to sumps so any information or tips for a drilled tank would be much appreciated.Thanks.

You dont need an over flow box if you dont want one.. Many bulk heads come with, or come with the option to add a strainer.

No you don't have to have an overflow boxes. Drop by your local fish store and you can see how they do it. It's fairly basic, sometimes with just an sch40 elbow, a strainer or pvc standpipe. Overflows help hide your pipes/fittings, act as a strainer and control your water level. You may need to create a durso or stockman standpipe to reduce some of the noise.
