Dropping SR price?

Two major farms have had their export licenses taken away by the AVA in S'pore.

The fact that these two large farms now have no way to sell their fish overseas means they either supply other local farms in S'pore, who in turn export the fish, or else sell more fish direct to the public in S'pore. I am sure both are happening. This is contributing to a supply glut I think.

Add to this the economic worries in both S'pore and rest of Asia, and the expanded production of SR's in Indonesia, and you have a bit of "perfect storm."

One thing to remember: many customers for Asian arowana really believe in the feng shui angle of keeping the fish; thus, if times turn tight economically, many people would think this is THE time to get an Asian aro! :)

Still, the fact prices are dropping like this right before Chinese New Year is pretty unusual.

Saw this thread regarding SR prices in Singapore.

SR for S$500.... almost the price of an RTG!
Are we gonna be seeing SR in the C$600 range any time soon now. I definitely don't mind switching from RTG com to SR com for that price!

I think $800C range is doable... :)

Keep in mind that would be for small fish. "You pay your money, you takes your chances!" :D

Well for SR's it's really hard to tell at less than 10" anyway so it being less than 5" doesn't make any difference :) You kinda just go by body shape. Some will be dull even at 20" then suddenly just reddens. BUt there's always that exception if your willing to pay for it.
