Flying "out of water" .......

That is pretty amazing! They must be getting up to a pretty good speed to fly out of the water like that. My motoro only crawl up the side the tank and get a few inches out of the water. They do this when they are trying to eat pellets that are on the surface of the water next to the front glass or when they are really hungry. They make kind of a slapping sound with their disk, forcing water to squirt up between their disk and the glass.

Rays are really interesting, they have a lot of personality but I am not too worried about them jumping out and landing on my head.
 
Now I can see the video. Very interesting to watch...
I thought at the end one was going to jump out of the water and hit the guy in the canoe.
 
cool video.... that must hurt when they belly flop down... Any one know why they do it? food? shaking parasites?
