Massive Arapaima in a 1800gallon

Posting on behalf of a good friend of mine , I thought I'd share some pics of the second plywood tank,his first ply tank is 900gallons and now as a main feature in his basement is this 1800gallon , it's 8ft long x 6ft wide and 5ft tall , the alligator gar in the pic is a measured 32" so it shows the size of the Pima lol guessing the Pima is over 40" now, Brad got this Pima from Mike @exoticaquaria last spring/summer at a mere 9-10", absolutely crazy growth , amazing what a large environment can do for the fish , and the Pima is good with other fish , could easily eat a number of fish that has been housed with him and doesn't (hasn't yet anyway lol)
 
Holy....amazing setup. It's nice to see a larger arapaima. What's the filtration like? And how's the humidity?
 
How big does the pima get? when in the phillipines I saw a tank, must have been 5000 gallons, built in like this with 3 of them that must have been over 6 feet easy.

Standing besides fish this big just blows my mind as they are such gentle giants, but really beautiful fish.

Amazing tank, would love to see pics of filtration... and more fish

hes running 2 Ultima II 2000's, ill grab some pics and info on the filtration for you guys,humidity is all good, hes a heating and plumbing guy, he has a good HRV unit, pima's can get like 8ft or so, seems like pima's grow to 4ft fast then slow right down, but i think hes gonna build a 16ft long tank in his shop, so im sure he has many years of capably housing the pima, as for his other livestock in that tank not too much his biggest gator gar is mean, he has 2 gator gar 1 Florida gar, 4 temisis bass, 2 frt, some type of pike , jaguar. That is brutal :( I'm very impressed he kept going after that. If I came home and I had a tank that lost so many nice guys I know I would take a step away for a bit.
 
Ya he was pretty choked up , I know the feeling too, I've lost some expensive fish , not as many fish but some pricey ones , as I'm sure we all have , the think that was a positive for him was that the Pima survived ( all the gars and FRT's as well anything that was an air breather survived ) as the Pima is his main reasoning for this big tank
 
There homemade from a local arts and craft store just a combo of plastic plants tied together and tied to rocks there 4ft tall
