My Panda marble-blue base Xback

Well sorry for posting this a little late been busy,I took this picture a few days after the shipment.So he has gain a lot of bulk on him as we speak and the tips of his scales are developing some gold shine.

I had heard that the white background promotes more of a "whilte gold" look that is popular in much of Asia. I am not so sure that the white background would actually promote crossing over the sixth scale.

On a related note, I heard many times that aros are kind of chamelion-like fish; put a red in a dark tank and it comes out darker red, put it in a light tank and it gets a lighter red.

I hope anyone could actually explain how a white backround promotes crossing,anyone had any experience or know of anyone? Would a blue base cross like a normal golden crossback or does blue base tend to have a dark back and the shine only goes up to 6th level? Why are they called crossback then if they do not fully cross? hmpd i have seen a class "AAA" blue base and it looks like it didn't cross(the gold rims) like the onse we see with a normal golden crossbacks.Can someone explain to me please thanks.Having said that i have also seen blue base that rims of gold tone in each scale crossed.
 
Generally speaking gold base crosses easier than darker base. It has something to do with the scale pigmentation that they genetically have. LIke you said some blue base will have blue base on 6th some won't just the gold rims. LIght plays a big part in the crossing. Most X-back doesn't even have 6th shine when they're in ponds. Personnaly I wouldn't worry about having a white BG. Farms do WTT just to show the potential of the aro and get higher price (the silver shine on small aros in WTT just shows how high their gold shine is going to be when they grow). True gold shine will just come in time even if they're not in white BG. The shine you're having now is not even gold :D
 
Some even believes that WTT will cause a paler gold and there was even a time when WTT is a turn off for aro keepers since they believe that once in WTT the gold intensity will not anymore be the same......JUst what I read..

I think I do have an experience on WTT..... When my wife bought me my XB I told her to pick the one with the most shine on 6th, and she did. It was about 8" already with 6th almost cleared and it is so white. 10 months later it is still pale. Every time I post its pic,they'll coment "Why is it so pale?"
 
Does this look pale to you? At 6.5" I say he is a pretty good specimen IMHO.I thinks his Gold rims are really coming along well.Look at the difference of only a couple of weeks.

That is a very beautiful XB. I think it wss not subjected to WTT at the farm, if it was, not for a long time, I mentioned that to you at PALHS. Farm White fiberglass tanks are white on all sides, top and bottom so having anly 3 sides doesn't give you the full effect of WTT, which might be good for your gold intensity and at the same time still have a higher shine outcome. IMHO and experience, I had a hard time intensifying the gold of my aro after it was in WTT for a longger time(8" already when I got it), but then again, your aro might be of better quality and the gold tone will not be affected or it will come back easily, or maybe you prefer the looks of a platinum aro. Forget about what I said and the forum threads above about the effects of white BG. You're the one who personally see the developement of your aro and as you said white BG made your aro's gold rims come out and made good developement overall, so if you like the developement of your aro in a white BG why should you change. There are always exceptions to the rule so white BG doesn't always mean pale as what you've noticed in your aro.
