SAD DAY.

I recently lost my gold xb. He jumped out of his new tank which really sucks because the whole reason I bought the tank was to give him more space. BV aquariums never delivered the lids with the tanks as he was supposed to and it jumped out. What a crappy deal. With the cost of the tanks and the loss and replacement of the fish I'm looking at $8000.00 bill. Some deal Mitch. Thanks a lot. Way to turn an awesome experience into a nightmare.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I have heard similar stories involving that tank builder. For those of you who don't know, RDFISHGUY has taken some award winning photos of his fish, including this gold XB. The photos of that fish over the last 6 years make one of the best grow out series I know of.

Any chance you can find a couple of the really early shots of the fish Ryan? Or perhaps collate a full grow out portrait of the fish, selecting photos from over the years?

Sorry too hear that....that sucks....now in saying that....one would know to put some sort of contraption to keep a fish from jumping out of the tank....especially putting a fish that size in a tank with out lids....unless I'm mistaken and you had something on the tank and it jumped through it....again super sorry for the loss .... That aro was beautiful .... And your previous tank set up was banging....

I used a few rubber maid lids but it didn't fit together perfectly. He jumped through one of the narrow openings. The point is it never would have happened if the guy delivered the goods purchased. Anyway here's a link to a slideshow of his life.

So sad im sorry to hear. I've had some past experiences with BV and ended up doing everything myself.

Thank you for stitching all those pictures together. Such a beautiful XB and to see its development is amazing.

He will never be replaced. Sorry for your loss

sorry to hear Ryan.....you should seek some kind of compensation from BV...highly unlikely but at least voice your opinion! have the tank now...so as much of a loss it was...you still have everything ready to put in another Aro! or Rays.

I will get another XB but it'll never be the same. The time and effort put in to growing a fish for nearly 7 yrs creates a bond between you and the fish. Due to size of the other inhabitants of the tank I have to find a full grown arowana to replace it. They don't grow on trees. It will be a lengthy search. Then I have to go through the whole pellet training process again. Its a shame it had to end this way. I have to blame myself for part of this as I had a bad experience with the guy on a previous build. The trouble is the price is low enough that you think you can endure some headaches along the way. This was unexpected though. I wasn't prepared to deal with losing the fish that was the sole purpose of acquiring the tanks in the first place. Its a real kick in the stomach.

Some crappy cell phone pics of the new set-ups.
