jackson Member Feb 10, 2008 #4 Why peat? They do not need low PH. Carbon and Ammonia chips are not needed if the tank is maintained properly and has more than enough filtration. coral chips- are they rinsed or leached of any salt that could be in them?

m_class2g Sponsor Sep 25, 2009 #11 my tank has a sump and also a fluval fx5. sump consists of filter floss then goes through bioballs, fluval prefilter, fluval ceramic rings, lots of crush coral and lace rock to buffer ph, more floss and some sponge. inside my fx5 i have pot scrubbers and filter floss.
