P14 not eating

i have apair of 7inches P14 for almost 7weeks. since last week the small male has stop eating, not even earthworm, i think there may be some parasite.
has anyone try "hikari Liquid PraziPro", i hope it is safe for them.

the p14 are in a 75gal tank by themself, temp is in 28 degree. i do around 10-15% water change daily with overnight water.

the female is still eating but become less.

any suggestion?

throw in some ghost shrimps, blood worms any time of those to see if they he eat..it's easier to feed them when they are in a smaller tank like your 75 and alone...keep at it every day

Howard, dose with prazipro it is completely safe even with double doses. If it is a parasite they will start eating within a day or so. Are they doing anything else, other symtoms. if it is gill flukes I have a thread on here somewhere about it but as they are not eating that would be my first thought. You have to treat them for 7 days give them a 3 day break and then another 7 days.

the female seem okay, but the male is not, he will move part of his disc upward which is the part above his eyes; but definitly is not curl.

he was eating okay for the first six week, but stoped since 5 days ago.

i did put in some Liquid PraziPro, and will see what happen next

Bet you any money it is. Gill flukes then as it will affect weaker rays more. They should start eating within the day but the trick is to make sure you treat for the full length of tim as they will be back. Also Temp will help the rays but do nothing to the flukes.

yeah...i've treated the whole tank as well even with aros and other fish inside as it's not suppose to be dangerous to other species...

with you howard as I said and with a smaller tank it'll be easier to treat...I was told you can alternatively take them out and place them into a separate tank /bin and treat for 30mins ie..a quick bath and back they go into the main tank....

If it is gill flukes you have to treat the whole tank.

As mentioned above the prazi is a good first step but like rudy said do the full treatment 7 on/ 3 off/ 7 on. Also I would turn up the temp to 84 which should help stimulate the appetite. P14 are a more sensitive ray and will be one of the first to get gill flukes or other problems in a community. Usually gill flukes are brought on by something else stressing out the rays that may need to get fixed first like bad water or being picked on by tankmates, which doesn't seem to be the case in your situation, but something must have caused there immune system to be strained. I've also noticed if I feed heavier with pellets that the particles can seem too make the gill flukes irrate the rays more. Good Luck

i had fed them with earthworm and MP, i want to know do i need to add dose everyday for 7 days?
because one dose of hikari Liquid PraziPro suppose last for 4-5days.
i will have my gf to feed them tomorrow, as i am at NY now, and i can only spend one evening on friday at home then i am heading out to maritime province for another 7 days.

No you dose for the amount of water in your tank and then if you do a 100 gallon waterchange you dose for the 100 gallons you put back in the tank. Do a big waterchange before you start treatment.

sorry, i mean that, do i need to put in medication everyday for 7 days......
because the description of hikari Liquid PraziPro says one dose is good for 5 days.

Howard just dose once, only if you change the water do you add more. Then change your water over a course of 3 days (after the 7) and then treat for another 7. Trick is to give them a full 3 days break for the eggs to hatch.
