    Barebottom vs Sand for Breeding

I also ways thought my rays looked more muscular yes... A ray on sand doesnt have to work as hard as a ray on a bare bottom, thats for sure. But either way, they dont seam to mind it. It only makes sense that the repetitive motion, and the extra work is building extra muscle.

    Barebottom vs Sand for Breeding

What your saying makes a lot of sense. I would tend to say i agree with it before i would say that it doesn't make a difference.

    300 gallon setup

Solid plan so far. Cut the heaters in half too. 2 500watt heaters. Same reason as two pumps. Good choice on pumps as well. You'll like them. Lighting... try LED. You'll never use anything else. I love mine. Go with the marine land double brights. You can get two 3 foot lights for...

LF: Custom Sump - Would Like To Make/Order

Yup, i do have something else in mind... something that will handle whatever bio load you throw at it. Im in the process of doing another how to video series, and included is a start to finish filter build. Its another fluidized bed, but with improvements from my last design. I do like that...

LF: Custom Sump - Would Like To Make/Order

I wouldn't feel comfortable shipping it Mike. The cost of shipping, and the chances of damage would both be very high i'm guessing. Are you stuck on this design? would you consider something else?

LF: Custom Sump - Would Like To Make/Order

I was curious on how much acrylic this would take to build.. i was thinking it would be a lot, based on so many baffles. If the sump were to be 60x24 ..... and a max height of 18".... and those baffles were 12" tall each... then you would need 53sq/ft of material.... Now im not sure what...

LF: Custom Sump - Would Like To Make/Order

Neat looking sump! Best bet is to go with acrylic, since its sloped like that. Glass would be too difficult to cut to get the panels to slope. Looks like its 18", sloping down to 12"? 10mm cell cast will do it. Too bad your not local, looks like a fun project. I like the first chamber...

Ph vs tds, PH swings a myth

A tank with R/O water will and can experience huge PH swings based on the fact that it has a very little to no buffering capacity... That has nothing to do with TDS. Although an RO tank has low TDS anyways... The rays blood PH changes with the waters... just like every other fish. Humans...
