I have been asked by someone to handle the sale of his fish. I saw it last night while dropping off my rays. It is a four year old Xien Leng purple/blue base super red. It was purchased from the old Big Als in Richmond. Those of you from Vancouver might remember the single "high end" fish that used to be offered for sale there. This was one of those fish.
The fish has been housed in a 6X2.5X2.5 tank with sump and Eheim cannister. It is fed a diet of super worm and pellets. While I was there it ate and swallowed some prawn shell that inadvertently fell into the tank. I think it can be trained to eat anything.
The fish is between 24 and 26 inches. There are some residual chipped scales on the left rear side of the fish. Otherwise the fish looks to be in good form and shape (No DE, PLJ, PA). Lighting plays a role in judging a fish. I used a Nikon D50 with built in flash to take photos. Otherwise the tank is lit with a standard flourescent light bulb, nothing fancy. The fish has some purple or blue core to its scales and has developed a chilli colour.
I am able to help with shipping this fish at Westjet cost (probably between $150-250) anywhere in Canada.
The owner is looking for a quick sale and so I deliberated with him over what a fair price is. Given the recent offering in GTA and elsewhere for large SR's, he decided that $1500 would be a fair firm price. I am earning no commission on the sale of this fish, only helping out.
I can relay any PM questions you might have to the owner.
