Looks like Oliver is bringing some of these super rare stingrays in! I know these havent been available in the hobby for quite some time! I just got his monthly email of his stock list and saw these in there. $900 i think it was. Beautiful ray!!!

Heres a pic i found from the net. droooool!!!

Yeah very rare, and always misidentified on suppliers lists. Hopefully someone on the forum grabs a pair!

Falkneri are my cryptonite but no space and bad time to downsize. I have wanted them for years. I have only ever seen one and it was from Oliver and it was DOA at Olivers place so did not get it. If anyone has space please buy some. I will kick myself for not pulling the trigger on these things.

Apparently one of the most active rays you can buy.

i would love to get a pair if i had room at home! my defective 300 from tenecor is sitting in my living room... still waiting for warranty procedure...? replacement?

i think someone should get a pair of these guys!

its got me thinking though lol. hmm....

They are a lot like the flower and tigers I guess. So less aggressive feeders than black rays. They can tolerate, and probably benefit from slightly cooler temperature than a lot of other rays. Like the tigers and flowers, the trick is getting them feeding (probably best to start them on live ghost shrimp), keeping the water pristine, using smooth, fine substrate, and giving them room to swim. They don't get very big like 18" disc, so a 6' x 3' x 2' (LxWxH) should be sufficient for a pair, but 8' might be better.

They are a little trickier then a lot of rays, but if people are keeping xingu with leopoldi and henlei keeping these with black rays shouldn't be any harder.

I plan on keeping mine with P14, sp.Xingu, and Marbled motoro. And I'm fairly confident in that.

If we can organize a group order for 6 we can get them for $800 each, and maybe cheaper if we can one more person in on a pair maybe will drop the price down a little bit more. I certainly don't mind spending a little extra in shipping if we want to get them shipped to BC and then reshipped from there.

I have a quote for the rays if we buy 8 of them. If we are going to do this, we should move fast. Europe and Asia will buy these up quick. If not, I am open to pushing Oliver to get us some next fall if you guys are game. The issue of these fish is not that they never come around, a number of them are exported every year. However a rare, pretty cheap, purple and orange ray is super appealing. So they are often thrown in as extras on massive orders of black rays going to Europe and Asia.

Oliver has told me he gets them every year, but they will pay twice as much in Europe and Asia. Same reason we only saw Xingu and Boesemani listed once. They still come in, they just don't make it here.

I'd grab a pair for sure if I had room. My BD's are all quite big now and love to bite new rays so don't know if it will work and with work I have already not being home often I won't have the time to probably train them to start eating and taking Massivores so I'm passing on these great looking rays..s.

david,

i would def be interested but space is a concern right now. tenecor hasnt got back to me regarding warranty with my tank. i have a 210 gal that has to be broken down in 2 weeks time since i sold it already. that leaves me with theos 150! i have my last pair of bd rays in there at the moment and not much room for anything else.

i was thinking hard and decided to wait. just not the right timing for me right now! the occupants of the 210 might have to rough it out in the 150 for a few weeks!

i got a pm about an interesting thread on monsterfishkeepers.com.

have a quick read:
