The router can be used to cut the bottom and top off, and prepare the edges. It the only tool you should need. Then you'll need some weld-on to weld the tank back together the way you want it.

I never used salt in my treatment. But its not a bad idea. Step your water changes up by a day, and increase them by a bit.

Possible with the right tools. not much you cant do with a router and acrylic. Is the bottom panel as thick as the rest of the tank? Usually the bottom panel is thinner on acrylic tanks. If yours is, it would be an issue, as you would be turning yours on its side.

Cut the tail off.. I cut my aro's tail off at one point as it was broken at the base. Not as bad as yours, but still needed to be done. I have a video on it if you need it. My aro's tail grew back better than it was... or so i thought.
